Ocean Signal's EPIRB3 is a 406MHz global distress beacon equipped with a hand release bracket. The EPIRB3 comes with a host of features in a modern, compact design, including AIS technology that provides local rescuers with accurate and reliable information on the location of the person in distress, thus speeding up rescue efforts. In addition, the Return Link Service (RLS) provides EPIRB activators with confirmation that their distress message has been received. The Near Field Communication (NFC) function allows a smartphone application to be used to monitor the EPIRB's battery and other functions to ensure its proper functioning.Compliant with IMO RESOLUTION MSC.471(101) and GMDSSSPECIFICATIONS406 MHz transmitterTransmission: Power (EIRP): 12WFrequency: 406.031 MHz 1KHzModulation: Phase 1.1 radians (16K0G1D)Encoding: Two-phase LSpeed: 400 bpsAIS transmitterTransmitter power (EIRP): 1Watt3dBFrequency: 161.975/162.025MHz 500HzTransmission speed: 9600baudSynchronisation: UTCMessages: message 1 (position), message 14 (status)Repeat interval: 8 messages/minute - Message 14 sent twice every 4 minutes121.5 MHz transmitterTransmit power (PERP): 50mW3dBFrequency: 121.5 MHzModulation cycle: >35Modulation factor: 0.85 to 1.00Frequency stability: 50ppmDuty cycle: >98%.Visible strobe and night vision lightsLight type: high intensity LED and infrared (IR)Light colour: white and IRAverage visible intensity: >1 candelaAverage night vision intensity: 15mW/srFlash frequency: 24 per minute (nom.)Battery typeType: lithium iron disulphide (LiFeS2)Operating time: >48 hours at -20CGNSS receiverSatellite channels: 72 acquisition channelsSensitivity: -167dBmCold start/recovery: -148dBm / -160dBmGNSS antenna: Microstrip Patch
